Irene Evison, trustee for the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales will be visiting five recently funded charities between 6-12th July.
This year the Foundation has supported 74 charities in Wales with a total funding of £875,327. Irene, the Foundation’s trustee for Wales since 2004, is visiting a number of the charities to see the impact of their community work and the funding in action.
Irene Evison explained, “Each of these charities provides essential support at the heart of their local communities. Seeing the impact of their work first hand will help us to inform our future funding programmes.”
She is planning to visit the following charities:
- 9 July 2007 @ 10.30am Community Action Machynlleth Machynlleth
- 9 July 2007 @ 10.30am Bro Ddyfi Advice Centre Machynlleth
- 11 July 2007 @ 9.30 to 10am Brecknock Women’s Aid

- 12 July 2007 @ 11am Friends of Pedal Power Ely, Cardiff
Linda Hayward, Community Action Machynlleth was delighted to hear of the visit commenting, “It will be a great pleasure to welcome Irene. She will get to see how the funding has made a difference to our community, enabling people to reach local services with greater ease through our transport programme.” Community Action Machynlleth received £5,000 in June 2006 for its community car costs.
Other awards included:
- Bro Ddyfi Advice Centre received £5,000 in September 2006 towards core costs
- Brecknock Women’s Aid received £16,250 in June 2006 towards a refuge worker’s salary
- Carers Centre for Cardiff & The Vale received £20,000 in December 2006 towards the development costs of day centre activities for BME carers
- Friends of Pedal Power received £7,500 towards the costs of a volunteer co-ordinator and volunteer expenses focusing on cycling opportunities for disabled people.
Irene Evison will be reaching each of the charities by cycling along the full 350 mile length of Lôn Las Cymru, Sustrans route 8, from Holyhead to Cardiff.
The Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales supports charities that help disadvantaged people to play a fuller role in the community. As a volunteer, Irene Evison has been the Foundation’s trustee for Wales since April 2004.
