Mental Health Charity Receives £20,000 Grant (05/05/10)

 05/05/2010

An Oxfordshire mental health charity has received a grant of £20,000 from the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales through its Community Programme.

Root and Branch, based at Westmill Farm near Watchfield, was set up in 2001 to help people in Oxfordshire regain their mental health. Through activities such as gardening, wood work, arts and craft, cooking and yoga individuals develop their confidence, self esteem and are able to maintain their medical regimes and so avoid returning to hospital.

The two-year grant from the Lloyds TSB Foundation will help support the salary costs of the full-time Manager who is responsible for all the operational activity of the project ensuring that they have sufficient skilled volunteers to maintain a varied programme of activities that meets the needs of the people they support.

The Manager of Root and Branch, Faith Mitchell said:

“The funding from the Lloyds TSB Foundation will help meet some of the core costs of the charity and ensure we are able to run the programmes of activities that do so much to enable people affected by mental health issues to maintain their relationships, lead fulfilled lives and feel included in their community."
