The Rumbles Catering Project in Mansfield has recently received a grant of £12,500 from the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales through its Community Programme.
The charity, based in Clipstone was established in 1989 to offer young people with a learning disability and those with behavioural difficulties; training and education in catering skills. The charity runs two commercial catering venues at country parks in Clipstone and Sutton Lawn with up to 21 students at any one time.
The two year grant from the Lloyds TSB Foundation will support a new youth café at the Sutton Lawn Centre in Sutton Ashfield. This will enable young people with learning disabilities to socialise in an informal environment with able bodied young people.
Mrs Georgina Dolan, the Business/Training Manager for the charity said;
“We are delighted that the Lloyds TSB Foundation have been able to provide funding to run an extended service at Sutton Lawn. The additional sessions will provide opportunities for the young people we work with to develop their social skills and feel included in the community. We also want to ensure that the young people can be actively involved in taking on responsibility for making decisions about future developments at the café “.
