Today the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales announced that Professor Ian Diamond will succeed Professor Sir Robert Boyd as Chair of the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales, with effect from July 2009. One of the UK’s leading grant-making trusts, the Foundation supports charities that help disadvantaged people to play a fuller role in communities across England and Wales.
Chief Executive of the Economic and Social Research Council since 2003, Ian brings a wealth of experience in the educational, funding and voluntary sectors. A social statistician, Ian Diamond's work has crossed many disciplinary boundaries, most notably working in the area of population but also in health and working with local authorities. He is currently Chair of the Executive Group of Research Councils UK and a trustee for the National Cancer Research Institute and the World Wildlife Fund.
Linda Kelly, Chief Executive of the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales commented:
“We wish to acknowledge the significant contribution that Robert has made to the work of the Foundation over the last six years; his invaluable guidance and personal commitment were greatly appreciated by all our staff and Trustees.”
