Children’s charity receives vital funding from Lloyds TSB Foundation

The Lloyds TSB Foundation has awarded Mold-based children’s charity DAFFODILS a grant of £12,000.

Established in 1999, the Flintshire charity was set up to support disabled and additional needs children and their families. DAFFODILS runs weekend and school holiday activity sessions, as well as outings and events including a monthly cinema and bowling club, a youth club and themed workshops.

The charity received a two year grant which will contribute towards the salary of the Office Manager.

One of the UK’s leading grant makers, the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales funds small to medium sized local, regional and national charities working at the heart of communities to tackle disadvantage.

Anita James is the Office Manager at DAFFODILS and approached the Foundation for funding, she says: "Having the chance to interact with others and play is very important for the children we work with as well as their families. This funding from the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales will help us to continue delivering enjoyable activities."

Cerys Thomas is the region’s Grant Manager for the Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales, she explains: "As a grant maker the Foundation is committed to providing core funding for salaries and other necessities to small charities, like DAFFODILS, to ensure they can continue to deliver their vital work."

In 2009, the Foundation invested £1.25 million in charities across the region and £20.61 million nationally
