Cardiff theatre company receives funding from Lloyds TSB Foundation

 23/08/2010

The Lloyds TSB Foundation for England and Wales has awarded the Hijinx Theatre a grant of £15,000 to continue its work with people with learning difficulties.

Based in the Millennium Centre, Hijinx Theatre produces and performs theatre productions throughout Wales and England to communities that traditionally don’t have access to the arts. In 1999 the charity launched its Odyssey Theatre, which runs weekly workshops for people of all abilities including those with learning difficulties as well as a yearly production in December.

The grant will contribute towards the expansion of the Odyssey Theatre project, which will enable the charity to run more workshops.

Val Hill, Administrative Director, Hijinx Theatre, said: "The Odyssey Theatre project gives people with learning difficulties the chance to explore and develop their creative talent. There is no doubt that this changes lives and helps to change people’s perceptions of learning difficulties. Thanks to this grant from the Lloyds TSB Foundation even more people will be given this chance to shine."

Mike Lewis, Lloyds TSB Foundation, Grant Manager Mid and South Wales, commented: "The Foundation is proud to fund projects like the Hijinx Theatre, which really make a huge difference to communities and the individuals involved."
