For over ten years, the Where Next Association in Worcestershire has offered people with learning difficulties the chance to experience the real world of work and learn new skills. Trainees at Where Next can receive valuable training and on the job experience in retail, food preparation, woodwork, horticulture, garden maintenance and factory assembly work.
Our funding supported the continuation and development of the ‘Learning for Work’ programme. ‘Learning for Work’ focuses on developing key work-based skills such as time keeping, personal presentation, team working, health and safety and various IT skills. By completing the course more people with learning disabilities will feel able to enter the work place and contribute to their communities.
Graham Clark, general manager of the Where Next Association said: "We are very grateful for the support which Lloyds TSB Foundation is giving us. It is allowing our less able clients to participate in learning and development opportunities on an equal footing with their more able peers, something which other funding streams do not encourage."
