Grant Awarded:

 £15,000 over two years (2007)

 Community Programme

Purpose:

Supporting the salary of a care worker on the children's team

The Hamlet Centre in Norwich provides a range of recreational, educational and social activities for children and young people with special needs, many of which have complex health care needs. With a number of services such as parent and toddler groups, holiday respite play schemes, a sensory room and a mobile toy library the charity offers an outstanding service to the children in its care.

Demand for services at the Hamlet Centre is increasing and the Trust hopes to move to new and larger premises in the near future. To help support the increase in services at the centre we have funded the salary of an additional care worker for the children’s team. This new post will allow the staff team to provide the one to one support the children so vitally need.

Patricia Horn, chief executive of the Hamlet Centre Trust says, “The grant from Lloyds TSB will enable us to appoint a dedicated care worker, so that we can take even more children who have complex health needs and life limiting disabilities on our respite holiday play schemes. We will be able to work holistically, visiting families and other organisations to share care assessments and training.  Getting the care support they need, allows the children to join in the activities - and the parents and siblings can enjoy their respite, knowing that their child is being well cared for and having fun.   The quality of our services owes a lot to Lloyds TSB Foundation!”
