Pakistan Community Centre

Pakistan Community Centre

Location:

 East Midlands

Grant Awarded:

 £30,000 over two years (2007)

Programme:

 Community Programme

Purpose:

Supporting the salary of the centre manager

This busy community centre provides a range of services for the growing local community in Derby. Lunch clubs take place three times a week, young people can take part in various sports and an information and advice drop in service is available for people needing help with immigration issues, translation of paperwork and help to fill in forms.

While the centre is undergoing a refurbishment our grant is supporting the centre manager to expand and improve the services on offer to the local community.

Mohammed Riasat, centre manager at the Pakistan Community Centre commented, "The grant contribution from the Lloyds TSB foundation has provided the community centre in derby with a much needed resource. This resource is able to support those most deprived within the community; in a range of activities from supporting people into employment to providing general advice, guidance and signposting. Without this funding Derby would have been left with a huge vacuum in the provision of key services for one of the most disadvantaged communities within the East Midlands."

The centre encourages community cohesion and will be offering more services for women and young people to continue its good work.
