Programme:

 Community Programme

Supporting the salary of the chief excutive

NAPA aims to improve the quality of activities for older people in care settings throughout England and Wales. The charity works closely with and provides training for staff in care settings to encouraging them to provide activities that the residents want and to help them to live life more fully.

This grant funded the creation of a chief executive post to provide strong leadership and clear direction to the charity. Sylvie Silver is already in post as chief executive at NAPA and she explained what the charity seeks to achieve, “NAPA aims to put Activity at the heart of care for older people. As the only charity focusing on this area we are now overwhelmed by requests for support ,advice and training. This grant enables us to develop ways of meeting these needs and maximise the benefit to older people.”

Over the next two years NAPA hopes to target those in a position to ultimately influence progress in making activity provision central to the care agenda. At the same time the charity hopes to diversify its income base and lessen its reliance on grant funding so that it can become more self-sustaining.
