HEAT’s Kensington Access to Training and Employment service (KATE) in Liverpool begun as a refugee outreach programme and now provides support to refugees and local residents who want to improve their employment skills and return to work. The project is focused on empowering people who face barriers to finding employment, such as long-term illnesses, single parenthood and multiple, interrelated problems. Most people that Kensington HEAT work with face multiple, inter-related problems, which a caseworker must address before they can support the client back into sustainable work.
“My life has been transformed since meeting the KATE team. I now work full-time in a job I love and more importantly, I can give something back to the community where I live.” (Moses Ntambi)
