Dance United uses dance as a development tool for excluded or disadvantaged young people.
The London Academy will initially work with 10 young people from East and North London, directing them away from gang-life through an intensive mentoring programme that supports an exciting collaboration between Dance United and Sadler’s Wells Theatre. These individuals will go on to become ambassadors for dance, engaging and recruiting other young people from their communities into the programme.
Studies suggest that over 40% of inner city gang members are reluctant participants in crime and violence. The London Academy will offer hundreds of these young people greater life choices and chances.
