Ex-prisoners Continuation Funding Programme

This programme is now closed.

In October 2008 twenty-nine charities working to help ex-prisoners re-integrate into the community received grants worth £4.5 million from the ex-prisoners Continuation Funding programme.
  • Following a strategic review of a pilot ex-prisoners funding programme the Foundation identified the need for longer term continuation funding to enable organisations to build on effective projects, develop their sustainability and evaluate the impact of their work.

  • Charities that received a grant between 2005 and 2007 were invited to apply for up to three years' funding to continue their work to help ex-prisoners reintegrate into the community.
  • Funding was awarded to charities that displayed a holistic approach to supporting reintegration, either through their own range of services, or through clear support from other organisations and agencies

  • The average grant from the ex-prisoners continuation fund programme is over £155,000

  • All twenty-nine grants are for three years and the majority of funding will support core-costs.
