In support of our Mission Statement, the Foundation adopts the following grant-making approach:
- we fund work that helps disadvantaged people to play a fuller role in the community
- we support both well established and new work across the voluntary sector
- we provide 'second stage funding' to support charities' development - we fund organisations that are looking to innovate, expand, improve or maintain their capacity, effectiveness or services
- we fund running costs, including salaries, to ensure that charities can continue to operate their core services
- we provide grants of up to three years appropriate to the charity's size
Our strong local presence and knowledge mean that we are always driven by the individual needs of local communities. Find out more about the types of work that we fund.
Core Costs
The Foundation is also one of the few grant makers who fund core costs – day-to-day running expenses such as salaries and other overheads. Without this kind of help many smaller charities – offering vital support in their communities – would struggle to survive. And that’s why we encourage applicants to include running costs in their applications where relevant.
