In 2010 we made grants of £19.4 million through our main community programme to support the core work of 890 small and medium charities to tackle issues in over twenty ‘areas’ of disadvantage. The top seven areas were:

Where does the Foundation provide funding?
We remain committed to tackling disadvantage wherever it exists and our extensive geographical network means that we ensure we target and weight our support to the most deprived areas across England and Wales.
In the last three years, over 49% of our funding was targeted towards the top 20% most deprived areas.
In the same period, over £1.7m has been awarded to 82 charities in Wales, with 14% of this total being spent in the most deprived areas of Merthyr Tydfil, Blaenau Gwent, Rhondda Cynon Taff and Neath Port Talbot.
What size of charities do we support?
The Community programme specifically supports smaller local, regional and national charities. During 2009 we targeted 49% of funding to charities with an annual income of under £100,000 and 70% to those with an income below £250,000.
